University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee to hold 65th commencement Monday for 294 grads
USF Sarasota-Manatee to hold 65th commencement
PALMETTO -- The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee will hold its spring graduation exercise at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Bradenton Area Convention Center, 1 Haben Blvd., Palmetto.
USFSM's four colleges -- Arts & Sciences, Business, Education and Hospitality & Tourism Leadership -- will graduate 294 candidates, including 38 master's degree candidates. An estimated 200 are expected to attend the commencement.
Regional Chancellor Sandra Stone will represent USF Sarasota-Manatee.
USF System President Judy Genshaft will preside. Bonnie Jones, assistant vice president for institutional research and effectiveness, will serve as ceremony reader.
Sarah Bradtmueller, a student in USFSM's College of Education, will perform the national anthem and USF alma mater.
Special awards will be presented to: Stewart Carrier, Golden Bull Service & Outstanding Leadership Award; Lauren Henry, Outstanding Graduate and King O'Neal awards; Jean Kabongo, Outstanding Professor; Brendan Bennett, Amanda Burns, Kallie Minnick, King O'Neal Awards; and state Sen. Nancy Detert, Regional Chancellor's Award for Leadership & Service.
