Bradenton police call for volunteers to help

BRADENTON -- The Bradenton Police Department is looking for volunteers to assist officers and employees at police stations.

The BPD is seeking "energetic individuals" to help support officers and civilians employees with general office duties and technical and computer skills.

"We'd love to have more volunteers looking forward to working with our citizens," officer Kimberly Camacho said in a press release.

Applicants will be required to complete the application process and be screened.

E. Manatee GOP Club gives candidates chance to talk

MANATEE -- The East Manatee Republican Club will have two guest speakers -- Angel Colonnesso, candidate for re-election to clerk of the Manatee County Circuit Court and Dave Miner of the Manatee County School Board and also chairman of the Central Florida Association of School Boards at its 11:30 a.m. meeting Thursday, May 12, at the Peridia Golf and Country Club, Bradenton.

All candidates who attend are welcome to speak, according to a club press release.

Lunch costs $16.
