Water to be turned off for portion of Manatee County on Wednesday, boil water notice issued
MANATEE -- Water will be shut off in an area of Manatee County on Wednesday for the second time in a week.
In order to replace water valves, the water will be turned off between 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday for customers from Seventh Avenue Drive West to 18th Avenue West between 51st Street West and 59th Street West.
According to a county official, not all work was completed last week, which necessitated the water to be turned off this week as well.
A precautionary boil wa
ter notice has also been issued for the area and will be in effect until "a bacteriological survey has shown the water to be safe, normally 24-48 hours," according to a news release.
Once service is restored, all water used for cooking or drinking should be boiled as a precaution.
"A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient," according to the release. "As an alternative, bottled water may be used."
For information, call 941-792-8811, ext. 5268, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. and 941-747-4357 after 5 p.m. or on weekends.
