Salvation Army of Manatee County in urgent need of towels
MANATEE -- The Salvation Army of Manatee County is in desperate need of some items, most urgently towels for the men who stay at the shelter.
Salvation Army Director of Community Relations & Development Christine M. Smith said the shelter is down to its "very last handful of towels."
"Sounds like such a simple thing but when you accommodate over 100 men each night it becomes a very big thing," Smith said in a news release. "Many of the men staying with us rely on our facility for showers and other hygiene needs. We try our best to provide them with needed personal care supplies and that includes a towel to dry off with."
Smith said the shelter is in desperate need and is asking Manatee residents who are willing to help to donate. Other items that are dangerously low at the shelter include: sheets (twin size works best), pillowcases, blankets and baby clothes.
