Animal Services adoption special ends March 31

MANATEE -- Manatee County Animal Services is running an adoption special through March 31.

All 145 dogs and 26 cats at the shelter, 305 25th St. E., Palmetto, will have a $10 adoption fee.

"The shelter is overflowing and our animals are in desperate need of forever homes," a flyer advertising the adoption special reads.

In addition to the adoption fee, there is a $15 Manatee County tag fee.

The shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

SCF Foundation presents 'Evening Under The Stars'

BRADENTON -- State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota Foundation Inc. will host an "Evening Under the Stars" at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail.

The theme for this year's concert is "Out of this World."

The 28th annual concert benefits SCF scholarships. The main event, featuring the Venice Symphony Pops Orchestra, will begin at 8:15 p.m. The fireworks finale will start at 9:45 p.m.

The concert takes place on the lawn at SCF Venice. Concertgoers can bring their coolers and lawn chairs to be set up in the reserved seating area between 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. the day of the event.

Reserved general admission seating is $25, general admission is $15.
