VFW Post presenting Vietnam War pins

ELLENTON -- Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9226, 511 12th St. E., is distributing 50th-anniversary Vietnam War lapel pins during its special events, said John Veenstra, who is heading up the post's welcome home program.

On the third Saturday of each month the post does a presentation of the pins just before its regular spaghetti dinner at 4:30 p.m. for Vietnam-era veterans. Veterans may bring family members if they wish.

"The Department of Defense wants this mission to honor veterans' families as well as Vietnam veterans," Veenstra said.

The Ellenton VFW Auxiliary will present their annual "Pork Butts & Blues" event 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. April 2. Proceeds from the blues festival go to Veterans Village in Bradenton. Veenstra will be presenting Vietnam lapel pins throughout the day to all Vietnam vets.
