Winners named for Manatee 4-H horse show
PALMETTO -- The Mosiac Arena on the Manatee County Fairgrounds was the scene of the Manatee County 4-H Open Horse Show. Riders participated in hunt seat, western, walk trot, speed and ranch classes.
Daily high point winners: 4-H junior hunt seat, Sarah John on Mocho Chino; 4-H senior and open hunt seat and western, Faith Houseworth on Zips Simply Sweet; 4-H junior western, Melissa Cruzan on Rebel in Gold; Walk Trot English, Paula Fleddermann on Over and Away; Walk Trot Western, Carly Fronckowiak on Carrousels Kid; 4-H junior speed and ranch, Lexi Parks on Chance; 4-H Senior speed and ranch, Nikki Miller on Tap Out; open speed, Kayten Brinn on Scout; and open ranch, Lindsay Neal on Dances with Roses.
Circuit awards were given to the top horse-rider combinations at fall and spring shows. Circuit award winners: 4-H junior hunt seat, Sarah John on Mocho Chino; 4-H senior and open hunt seat and western. Faith Houseworth on Zips Simply Sweet; 4-H junior speed, Lexi Parks on Chance; and 4-H open speed, Lindsay Neal on Dances with Roses.

Bradenton Area Beach Madness tourney returns
BRADENTON -- The battle is on as the Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau's second annual Bradenton Area Beach Madness.
The tournament will include eight single-elimination rounds featuring 16 of the top activities in the Bradenton Area. The tournament is hosted on bradentongulfislands.com but all voting action will take place on facebook.com/VisitBradentonGulfIslands) where fans can vote beginning March 15.
Each day through March 31, a picture will be posted featuring a new matchup. The matchups will be two activities in the area and participants will vote for their favorite. Activities include:
Kayaking at Robinson Preserve
Flyboarding in Palma Sola Bay
Horse Surfing in Palma Sola Bay
Racing at Anderson Racepark
Climbing Trees at TreeUmph!
Stand Up Paddleboarding at Robinson Preserve
Painting Sand Dollars at Shiny Fish Emporium
Catching a game at McKechnie Field
Catching a show at Manatee Performing Arts Center
Snorkeling for Your Own Hidden Treasure
Feeding Cows at Dakin Dairy Farm
Seeing Snooty at The South Florida Museum
Going on a Guided Segway Tour
Going for a Scenic Bike Ride
Touring the Grove at Mixon Fruit Farms
Picking Strawberries at O'Brien Family Farms
Voters name their top activity. Only one vote per user will be counted.
Last year's Champion Matchup came down to "Flyboarding in Palma Sola Bay" and "Seeing Snooty at the South Florida Museum" in a Bradenton activities face-off for votes. The ultimate reigning champion was crowned with "Seeing Snooty at the South Florida Museum" receiving a majority of votes for the favorite thing to do in the 2015 Bradenton Area Beach Madness Tournament.
