Florida Division of Historical Resources to hold public meeting in Palmetto on Tuesday
MANATEE -- As part of updating Florida's Comprehensive Historic Preservation Plan, the Florida Division of Historical Resources will have a regional meeting in Manatee County on Tuesday.
The meeting will be from 1-5 p.m. Tuesday at the Carnegie Library, 515 10th Ave. W., Palmetto.
"This visioning process is to update the plan for the next five-year cycle," a news release states. "To be effective, the new plan must represent a broad base of public and professional input, so all are welcome to attend."
The state's historic preservation plan provides guidance for "the implementation of sound planning procedures for the location, identification and protection of the state's archaeological and historic resources," according to the Department of State. "The development and implementation of a comprehensive preservation plan should assist Florida's preservation organizations in their efforts to protect Florida's rapidly dwindling historic and archaeological resources."
The public can also participate in a survey, which can be accessed at surveymonkey.com/r/FL-Comp-Plan.
