Airports serving Manatee County report minimal delays
MANATEE -- Local airports serving Manatee County residents are reporting little to no delays going into the eve of Thanksgiving.
As of noon Wednesday, airport officials reported no delays at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport and few delays at Tampa International Airport.
"The flight schedule is the same as it has been all week," said SRQ vice president Mark Stuckey. "There are no delays at the airport. Everything is on time."
The airport added staffing for the Thanksgiving holiday to assist the many travelers who are not frequent fliers. Those travelers may require extra assistance in getting around and unaccustomed to security regulations.
"We don't expect any delays," Stuckey said.
The weather locally is great, and nationally it also seems to be cooperating, he added.
"Everything is running very smoothing at Tampa International Airport," said TPA spokeswoman Christine Osborne.
Flight delays and lines at security checkpoints have been minimal, she added.
"We are still encouraging people to arrive with enough time, at least 90 minutes before, because certainly the traffic can peak at several times throughout the day and to allow time to park and get through security," Osborne said.
