Rainy weekend forecast for Manatee County
MANATEE -- When showers aren't falling Thursday night on Manatee County, with a few isolated thunderstorms mixed in, it will still feel wet with high humidity, according to Bay News 9 chief meteorologist Mike Clay.
As for the coming weekend, Clay said there are major changes to the forecast.
"There was computer model disagreement about another upper-level impulse, not on the weather charts yet, that could develop and move through over the weekend," Clay said. "The American GFS model showed totally dry, while the European model showed very wet. Well, today the GFS model has done a flip-flop, as it now sees the upper-level energy and has gone along with the Euro model for a much wetter weekend."
Rain chances are up with the moisture likely late Saturday into Sunday morning.
"The models are now forecasting some heavy rain and perhaps a chance of thunderstorms," Clay said. "Once the disturbance exits on Sunday, it'll drag in colder air for a quick shot of chilly temperatures Monday and Tuesday."
There is still computer model disagreement with respect to the temperatures due to the timing of the arrival of the colder air, Clay said, but the models all show it.
Highs on Monday will likely stay in the 60s, Clay forecast, with considerable high clouds and dry much of next week. Temperatures will gradually warm up to near normal for Thanksgiving.
