McKechnie Concert in Park showcases students

BRADENTON -- The School District of Manatee County Schools' Orchestra program, along with Manatee County Orchestra Directors and the Pittsburgh Pirates present the third annual Concert in the Park at 6 p.m. Saturday at McKechnie Field, 1611 Ninth St. W., Bradenton.

Concert in the Park showcases youth musicians inside the home of the Bradenton Marauders.

Students from Braden River, Buffalo Creek, Haile, Johnson, Lee, Nolan and Sugg middle schools will participate with musicians from Bayshore, Braden River, Lakewood Ranch, Manatee, Palmetto and Southeast high schools.

Orchestras will perform on the field. Concessions will be available and children's activities will be offered in the fan plaza.

Gates open at 5 p.m. Admission is $10 per family. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or in advance at participating schools.

Proceeds benefit Manatee Schools' Orchestra Programs.

Free Books, Bots and Bites event Saturday at library

BRADENTON -- As part of its "PopUps for a Purpose" series, Realize Bradenton has partnered with Manatee County's Manatee Millennial Movement (M3) to create "Books, Bots and Bites" from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Central Library, 1301 Barcarrota Blvd. W.

Participants can come in robot costume or create one at a bot-builder station, join the bot parade and grab robot-themed bites.

The library will also offer a scavenger hunt, story time, and free book giveaway by the Early Learning Coalition of Manatee County. The event is free and open to the public.
