Alternative Christmas Market set at Kirkwood
MANATEE -- The 20th annual Alternative Christmas Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 5 at Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, 6101 Cortez Road W., Bradenton. Palma Sola Presbyterian co-hosts the event.
Twenty nonprofits will have booths offering shoppers the chance to learn about services provided, to volunteer with groups of interest and to buy unique Christmas gifts.
Proceeds benefit charitable organizations chosen by the shopper.
Participating organizations include Beth-El Farmworkers Ministry, Bible Mission USA, Cedarkirk Camp & Conference Center, Foundation for Dreams and Dream Oaks Camp, Family Partnership Center, Feeding Empty Little Tummies, Manatee County Habitat for Humanity, Hearts Afire, Heifer International, HOPE Family Services, Hope Seeds, Humane Society, J316 Ministries, Manasota Operation Troop Support, My Choice Pregnancy Center, MedSend, Selah Freedom, Thornwell Home for Children, SERRV and Tidewell Hospice.

Postal workers Santa Fund benefit set Nov. 15
PALMETTO -- The Palmetto Postal Workers Santa Fund annual Theme Tray and Gift Card Raffle is at the clubhouse of Country Lakes II, 6201 U.S. 41 N.
Doors open at 1:30 p.m., with the drawings beginning at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15. A snack bar will be available.
The fundraiser benefits the Santa Fund to help postal workers provide gifts to needy and special-needs children for Christmas.

Jingle Bell Run-Walk planned for Lakewood Ranch
LAKEWOOD RANCH -- The Arthritis Foundation is having a Jingle Bell Run-Walk for Arthritis at 8100 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., and is looking for volunteers to help.
Check-in starts 4 p.m., and the 5K run/walk start time is 6 p.m. Dec. 5.
