Concert in the Park will showcase 600 students
BRADENTON -- The Pittsburgh Pirates and Bradenton Marauders will present "Concert in the Park" at McKechnie Field at 6 p.m. Nov. 14. Orchestras from Bayshore, Braden River, Lakewood Ranch, Manatee, Palmetto and Southeast high schools will participate.
Middle school orchestras from Braden River, Buffalo Creek, Haile, Johnson, Lee, Nolan and Sugg will participate as well.
Gates open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 per family purchased at the gate or in advance at any participating school.
Proceeds benefit the Manatee County Schools orchestra programs helping pay for new music, acquiring and maintaining instruments and musical opportunities for students.
More than 600 students will perform traditional orchestral pieces, renditions of "Yesterday" by The Beatles, Meghan Trainor's hit "All About That Bass," ballpark classic "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," and selections from blockbuster movies such as "Pirates of the Caribbean," "The Hunger Games," and "Jurassic Park."
