League of Women Voters will talk voting rights
MANATEE -- the League of Women Voters of Manatee County will present a public program on restoring voting rights to former felons from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9.
An estimated 1.5 million Florida citizens cannot vote because they committed a felony.
Three speakers will discuss the issue: state Rep. Darryl Rouson, Michael Barfield of the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida and Larry Eger, public defender.
The program is at the Bradenton Woman's Club, 1705 Manatee Ave. W. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. for a $5 lunch buffet and social time.
