Manatee County Commission set to appoint one person to Planning Commission
MANATEE -- Thirty-one Manatee County residents are vying to fill a vacancy on the Planning Commission.
At Tuesday's commission meeting, the county commission is set to appoint one person to the advisory board for a term ending in October 2019. The vacancy was caused by the end of current Chairman Bill Conerly's term. Conerly has reapplied for the seat.
Manatee County solicited applications in September for the seat on the seven-member planning commission, which is a "citizens advisory committee that makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on land use items," according to a news release.
According to the news release, which was sent Sept. 4, no specific expertise is required but people with experience or training in planning, engineering, environmental science and the development industry may be given additional consideration for appointment.
