Safe Kids Fair set for Saturday in Bradenton
BRADENTON -- The 3rd Annual Safe Kids Fair is set for 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at 3011 19th Ave. W.
This is a free event for the public, with an emphasis on children between the ages of 5 - 11.
The Bradenton Police Department is partnering with several local businesses, community partners, public safety agencies, and Westminster Presbyterian Church, which is hosting the fair.
Program in Bradenton on helping homeless Oct. 12
BRADENTON -- League of Women Voters of Manatee County is presenting a program on helping the homeless noon-1 p.m. Oct. 12 at Bradenton Woman's Club, 1705 Manatee Ave. W. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. for a light lunch ($5 donation) and social time.
Long thought to be a problem primarily of adult males (many with addictions), the face of the homeless is changing. Now women and children are also asking for help, and the existing shelters may not be able to accommodate them.
Speakers: Adell Erozer, executive director of Turning Points and the One-Stop Center; Julia Showers, program director for the Salvation Army of Manatee County; and Sarasota County Commissioner Carolyn Mason, who will discuss how Sarasota is dealing with this issue, and the recommendations of a national expert on homelessness.

Tea Party Manatee to have program on gun rights
BRADENTON -- Tea Party Manatee will have a program on gun rights 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Mixon Farms, 2525 27th St. E.
Guest speaker will be political columnist and commentator Raquel Okyay.
