Major road closures planned for Fourth of July celebration. What to know
Fourth of July celebrations will cause several closures around Bradenton and Palmetto this Saturday.
Road closures will impact main roads as the two cities have festivities planned on both sides of the Manatee River, commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary. Events are planned throughout downtown Bradenton, Rossi Park, the Riverwalk, Old Main Street and Palmetto’s Riverside Park.
Due to the festivities, the Green Bridge will be closed starting at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. It will reopen following the fireworks show, which is expected to last until around 10 p.m. Eighth Avenue West in Palmetto will also be closed at that time.
There are other closures in Bradenton that will start at 6 a.m. on Saturday and last until 1 a.m. Sunday. These closures include:
- Old Main Street between Manatee Avenue West and Third Avenue West
- Fourth Avenue West between Tenth Street West and 13th Street West
- Rossi Park, the Forever Lawn, splash pad and parking lot
In Palmetto, the closures from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday include:
- Riverside Drive from Eighth Avenue West to Tenth Avenue West
- Ninth Avenue West from Fourth Street West to Riverside Drive
Riverside Park in Palmetto, and the nearby parking areas, will close at 12:01 a.m. on Friday and will re-open around noon on Sunday. The boat ramp will close one day later, at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, and reopen around 10 p.m. after the fireworks display.
