Bradenton pedestrian dies after being hit by SUV in Manatee County, FHP says
A 70-year-old Bradenton man died Sunday after a vehicle struck him at the entrance of an apartment complex in Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers initially reported the fatal crash Sunday afternoon but provided few details about what happened.
The crash occurred around 1:43 p.m. at an entrance to the Mira Lagos Apartment Complex on 34th Avenue Drive East, according to FHP.
A person driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling south and entering the apartment complex when the SUV struck the man, who was walking north from a sidewalk in the same area, FHP said.
Troopers said the man suffered critical injuries and was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.
A 38-year-old Bradenton man, a 31-year-old Fort Pierce woman and an 8-year-old Bradenton boy in the SUV were not injured, according to the agency.
The investigation remains ongoing as troopers work to determine which adult occupant of the SUV was driving, FHP said.
