Pickup truck crashes into Manatee County home, trapping man inside, FHP says
A pickup truck crashed into a Manatee County home early Tuesday, landing on the homeowner’s bed and pinning him underneath the wreckage, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said a 54-year-old Sarasota man was driving a Ford F-150 east on Tournament Boulevard when he ran a stop sign and continued into the intersection, traveled off the roadway and crashed into a home in the 4800 block of Country Club Way near University Parkway and the Manatee-Sarasota county line.
A 62-year-old Manatee County man was sleeping inside the home when the truck crashed into the home and landed on his bed, FHP spokesperson Kenneth Watson told the Bradenton Herald. Watson said a neighbor helped remove the man from the rubble.
The homeowner suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to FHP.
Photos released by FHP from the scene show the pickup truck lodged inside the home after crashing through an exterior wall.
The driver was not injured.
The crash happened around 12:30 a.m., troopers said.
Watson said the driver was not impaired, and troopers are still investigating the cause of the crash.
