Bradenton pedestrian struck, killed while fixing bicycle on SR 70, FHP says

A Bradenton man died early Friday after a truck struck him while he was attempting to repair a bicycle on State Road 70, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 1:15 a.m. on State Road 70 east of Fifth Street West in Manatee County, troopers said.

A 59-year-old Dover man was driving a 2019 Ram 5500 truck east in the inside lane of State Road 70 when the vehicle struck a 30-year-old Bradenton man who was stopped in the inside eastbound lane while attempting to fix his bicycle, according to FHP.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

The truck driver was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
