Popular furniture seller to open first Manatee-Sarasota store, developer says
Construction is underway for a new business at the University Town Center.
West Elm, a global modern home furnishings retailer, is snagging an 18,000-square-foot space in The West District at UTC, according to a Benderson Development news release. Benderson is the developer for UTC.
The West Elm store, the company’s first for the Manatee-Sarasota area, will open near L.L. Bean, the news release said.
West Elm sells furniture, decor, lighting, textiles and home essentials. The company also offers design services to help customers customize rooms, offices and other home spaces.
The UTC location is the company’s eighth for Florida. The nearest store is in Tampa.
West Elm began in Brooklyn, New York, in 2003. Its parent company is Williams-Sonoma, which has had a store inside the UTC Mall since it opened in 2014.
An opening date for West Elm was not announced.
