Motorcyclist dies in fatal dump truck crash in Manatee County, FHP says

A man died in Manatee County on Thursday after his motorcycle collided with a dump truck near Interstate 275, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Around 4:20 p.m. Thursday, a dump truck driven by a 59-year-old North Port man was stopped on the southbound left turn lane of U.S. 41, at the southbound entrance ramp intersection of the interstate, the FHP said.

A man driving a 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle was driving north on U.S. 41, approaching the same intersection, according to the FHP.

The dump truck turned left towards the entrance ramp of the interstate at the same time that the motorcycle entered the intersection, and the two collided, the FHP said.

The FHP confirmed that the driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet, but he was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the FHP.

As of Friday morning, FHP has not released the name or age of the motorcycle driver.

The FHP said an investigation into what color the traffic signals were and how fast each vehicle was going is still underway.
