A GoFundMe campaign is gathering support for a Bradenton-area tattoo artist who was in a car crash and now faces hospital costs and is unable to work.

Shannon Smith started the fundraiser for her son, 22-year-old Camden, the GoFundMe page says.

Camden was riding in the passenger seat, and his girlfriend was driving, “when another driver turned in front of them at about 50 miles per hour,” Smith wrote.

Camden was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, but his injuries were “more severe” than doctors initially thought, according to the GoFundMe.

The fundraiser says Camden needs surgery to repair his arm, and he cannot do his job as a tattoo artist until he has fully recovered.

“Tattooing is not just his job — it’s his dream and passion,” the GoFundMe says. “He was making great progress in his career and earning a good living, but this accident has put everything on hold.”

On Wednesday, the GoFundMe had raised $295 of a $4,500 goal.

“The funds raised will go directly toward his surgery, medical bills, and essential living expenses while he heals,” the fundraiser says. “Your support will help him get the care he needs and give him a chance to return to the art he loves.”
