Memorial Day in Manatee County: Trash pickup and holiday closures
Memorial Day is Monday, May 25.
In Manatee County, government offices will close, trash pickup will be delayed and some public transit services will not run.
Here’s what to know.
Trash pickup and public transit changes
Trash pickup for Bradenton, Palmetto and unincorporated Manatee County will be delayed one day in observance of Memorial Day. Normal collection schedules will resume the following Monday. The Lena Road Landfill will also be closed on Monday.
Manatee County Area Transit fixed route and Handy Bus service will be unavailable on May 25. The Anna Maria Island Trolley will operate normally, and the Manatee Avenue Beach Express will run on a holiday schedule.
What’s closed and open for Memorial Day?
Government offices will be closed on Memorial Day, and so will Manatee County Libraries.
Parks, beaches and natural preserves in Manatee County will remain open to the public, and so will Manatee County and Buffalo Creek Golf Courses.
County Recreation Centers, G.T. Bray and John Marble Recreation Centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and offer a modified group exercise schedule. Those who wish to use the CV Walton Racquet Center should go through the G.T. Bray entrance.
G.T. Bray’s Aquatic Center will remain open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Lincoln Aquatic Center and the John H. Marble Aquatic Center will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lap swim and family swim sessions will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
