48-year-old cyclist killed in Bradenton crash, Florida Highway Patrol says

Editor's Note: A 48-year-old cyclist died in a car crash early Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the cyclist was traveling westbound on a bike along 53rd Avenue West near 66th Street West when a 24-year-old Sarasota man in a BMW 330ci traveling west entered the designated bike lane and crashed into the bike.

The crash happened around 4:25 a.m., according to a news release. Troopers say the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

As of Saturday afternoon, the crash remains under investigation.
