Palmetto man killed in early morning crash on US 41, troopers say

A Palmetto man died early Wednesday morning after being hit by a car on U.S. Highway 41, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 27-year-old woman driving a Cadillac Escalade was traveling south on U.S. 41, approaching Scale Avenue, around 1:20 a.m. when the crash happened, troopers said.

A pedestrian, the 43-year-old Palmetto man, was on the shoulder of the rightmost southbound lane, according to the authorities.

The Escalade collided with the pedestrian, and the Palmetto man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the FHP.

Further information was not immediately available Thursday morning. The FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
