Roads around downtown Bradenton to close for De Soto Grand Parade. What to know
Bradenton’s largest parade is set to take over the streets on Saturday, and several roads around downtown Bradenton will be closed to allow for the festivities.
The 87th De Soto Grand Parade, organized by the Hernando DeSoto Historical Society, begins at 7:30 p.m.— however, road closures will begin much earlier than the parade. According to the parade organizers, these are the road closures to know:
- 12th Street West, from Manatee Avenue West to Sixth Avenue West will be closed from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Manatee Avenue West from 1st Street West to 14th Street West will be closed from noon to 11 p.m.
- Manatee Avenue West from 14th Street West 43rd Street West will be closed from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- 43rd Street West from Manatee Avenue West to 9th Street West will be closed from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- Green Bridge (U.S. Business 41) Southbound from Riverside Drive in Palmetto to Sixth Avenue West in Bradenton will be closed from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Ninth Street West from from Sixth Avenue West to Fourth Avenue West will be closed from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The city of Bradenton’s public parking garages will remain open, but the Manatee County Public Parking Garage on 10th Street West will be inaccessible after 1 p.m.
According to the event organizer, they estimate that around 3 million beads will be thrown to the crowd from the parade floats. To best enjoy the festivities, parade-goers should be aware of road closures and detours.
