Two Bradenton construction workers seriously injured in crash, troopers say

Two Bradenton construction workers were seriously injured after an SUV crashed into a truck in an active work zone, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, a Tampa man driving a GMC Yukon was traveling westbound on State Road 574, west of Bismark Palm Drive in Hillsborough County, when he entered a construction zone and collided with a Ford F-550 work truck, FHP said in a news release.

The construction truck had its caution lights on, and two workers were in the truck: a 20-year-old man and a 36-year-old man, both from Bradenton, the release said.

Both workers were seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital. The Tampa driver sustained minor injuries and was cited for careless driving, according to the release.

Further information about the crash was not immediately available Wednesday afternoon.
