Myakka City woman seeks GoFundMe support after alligator rollover car crash
An online fundraiser GoFundMe has been started for a Myakka City woman who was injured after crashing into an alligator and rolling her vehicle.
Maslin Kurtz, 25, is at home recovering from a fractured shoulder, sternum and spine after she was in the ICU following a car crash, according to a GoFundMe launched to help cover her medical and living expenses. On March 5, Kurtz’s vehicle collided with an alligator and rolled, according to the fundraiser.
According to a photo attached to the GoFundMe, a couple rescued Kurtz from her “crushed car” and prayed with her as she awaited emergency services.
“I thank God for y’all,” Kurtz wrote. “Truly a miracle I’m here today. Could not have done it without your help.”
“Maslin is truly such an incredible, loving, and talented person filled with so much love and joy,” the GoFundMe description says.
Kurtz is at home recovering, and her injuries did not require surgery. The fundraiser was started to “help financially with medical expenses, being off work and the long weeks of recovery ahead,” according to the description.
As of Monday evening, the fundraiser has currently raised over $6,300 of its $9,000 goal.
