A Sarasota man died after a crash in Bradenton on Sunday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the wreck happened around 3:44 p.m. in Manatee County.

A Ford Mustang, driven by a 19-year-old man from Bradenton, was driving west in the rightmost lane of 53rd Avenue West, approaching the intersection with 20th Street West, according to a news release from FHP.

A Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by a 38-year-old man from Bradenton, was traveling south on 20th Street West in the left-turn lane at the intersection, the release said.

As the Ford-150 attempted to make a left turn on a green light, the Ford Mustang drove through a red light and struck the truck, according to FHP.

The passenger in the Ford F-150, a 53-year-old man from Sarasota, was seriously injured in the crash, the agency said. Emergency responders took him to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to FHP.

The drivers of the Mustang and the F-150 both sustained serious injuries in the collision, the release said.
