Bradenton man dies in collision with tractor-trailer, FHP says

A Bradenton man died when his vehicle and a tractor-trailer collided in Hardee County on Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Around 6:23 p.m., a 57-year-old Bradenton man was driving a Lincoln SUV southbound on West Main Street in Wauchula, approaching a stop sign at the intersection with State Road 64, according to an FHP news release.

A tractor-trailer, driven by a 60-year-old man from Fort Myers, was traveling eastbound on State Road 64 towards West Main Street, the release said.

The Bradenton man failed to stop at the stop sign, and the front end of the tractor-trailer collided with the Lincoln SUV, troopers said.

The collision redirected both vehicles in the southeasterly direction and into a parking lot at Charlotte’s Webb Pub, according to FHP.

The tractor-trailer then collided with a parked, unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot, the agency said.

The Bradenton driver was pronounced dead on the scene by Hardee County EMS. The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured , according to FHP.

The agency said its Traffic Homicide Unit continues to investigate the crash.
