‘Athletic country club’ coming to Lakewood Ranch with new fitness center
A new luxury fitness facility is coming to Lakewood Ranch.
Located at 5000 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. N., on the Sarasota County side south of University Parkway, Life Time is building an 86,000-square-foot facility projected to open in Fall 2026.
Dubbed an “athletic country club,” Life Time offers resort-style amenities, fitness and social activities.
“We’re excited to bring Life Time’s stunning new 86,000-square-foot athletic country club to the vibrant Lakewood Ranch community,” the company’s website says. “Destined to be a hot spot for fitness and social activity, with resort-style amenities for spending days by the pool, playing a game of pickleball, enjoying a group fitness class, and so much more.”
It’s the first Life Time for the Manatee-Sarasota area. The company’s nearest fitness center is on Harbour Island in Tampa.
Life Time first proposed to build a Lakewood Ranch facility in 2023, according to building records.

While a full list of amenities has not been announced, the original plan was to build a two-story wellness and health center to include fitness studios, equipment, locker rooms, indoor spas, cold plunges, offices, child care, retail, outdoor pools and pickleball courts.
An Atlanta-area Life Time around the same size of the Lakewood Ranch fitness center also offers the following amenities:
- Infrared saunas and a regular sauna
- Hydrotherapy suite
- Whirlpool
- Indoor lap pool
- Steam room
- Cafe and bar at the lounge
- CryoLounge+ and other recovery areas
At the end of December, Fort Lauderdale-based construction company Moss completed the building’s structural framework, Florida Construction News reported.
Membership prices have not been announced for the Lakewood Ranch location, however, the similar-sized Atlanta-area Life Time has $279 per person monthly memberships.
