A new multifamily housing development could be coming soon near the Ellenton Premium Outlets in northeast Manatee County.

Tampa developer Third Lake Development recently filed paperwork with Manatee County Development Services seeking approval to build 207 cottages and 52 townhomes on roughly 30 acres at 5512 29th St. E.

The site is just north of Ellenton Premium Outlets and the Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex.

The project, called Abrazo at Ellenton, proposes to begin construction in December with a one-year completion date, according to building records.

Plans filed for new Ellenton cottages and townhomes

Cottages will be offered in either a one-, two- or three-bedroom design, along with townhomes, records show. Nearly 650 parking spaces are planned, too.

According to building records, Abrazo at Ellenton would border the Oakley subdivision on its east side and two lakes from the Tuscany Lakes apartment complex to its north. There are also retention ponds planned for its western border near Interstate 75.

According to records, a clubhouse, pool area, pickleball courts and dog park are planned amenities for the development.

What happens next?

County officials approved rezoning the land in January 2024, from agricultural suburban and planned development mixed use designations to planned development residential.

If the county approves the proposal, it will be the second Abrazo development for Manatee County.

The Abrazo at Robinson Gateway is a Third Lake Development project off Moccasin Wallow Road near Interstate 75. The company has developed storage facilities, multifamily and build-to-rent communities in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.
