How will MLK holiday affect Manatee County and Bradenton trash pickup?

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is on Monday, Jan. 19, and trash pickup schedules, in addition to government building hours, will be adjusted in observance of this federal holiday.

For the unincorporated parts of Manatee County, there will be no collection on Jan. 19. Trash will be collected one day later than the scheduled pickup date for the rest of the week.

Regular collection schedules will resume on Monday, Jan. 26.

In the City of Bradenton and the City of Palmetto, trash collection will also be delayed one day in observance of the holiday.

Manatee County offices, libraries closed for holiday

Bradenton, Palmetto and Manatee County government buildings will be closed on Monday for the holiday.

Manatee County Area Transit and the Anna Maria Trolley will continue to operate normally on the holiday.

Manatee County Public Libraries will be closed on the holiday, and will resume normal operating hours on the following day, Tuesday, Jan. 20.

Manatee County’s nature preserves, beaches and golf course will remain open. Buffalo Creek Golf Courses will also operate normal hours.

John Marble and GT Bray recreation centers will operate from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, and will observe modified group fitness schedules. The Walton Center Building at the GT Bray Recreation Center will be closed, and the county asks those who wish to use the racquetball courts to enter through the main entrance.

The GT Bray Pool will operate normal hours on the holiday, from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Lincoln Aquatic Center Pool will be closed for staff training, according to the county.
