Manatee County crash kills driver after running off State Road 64, FHP says
A 53-year-old Englewood man died Monday afternoon after his car veered off State Road 64 and crashed into a fence and trees in east Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the man was driving a Honda Accord west on State Road 64, just west of Duette Road, when he entered the eastbound lane for unknown reasons and continued into the north shoulder around 3:55 p.m. The car struck a fence and then hit two trees before coming to a stop , according to investigators.
The driver was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, FHP said.
The crash remains under investigation, FHP said.
