Detwiler’s grocery store adding new Manatee location. Here are the plans
A popular local grocery store is expanding in Manatee County.
Detwiler’s Farm Market announced it is planning to open a new store at the Braden River Plaza off State Road 64.
Chief executive officer Henry Detwiler and his son Sam Detwiler, company president, announced in a social media post they made a deal with Benderson Development on the roughly 43,000-square-foot space.
It’s located at 4502 E. State Road 64 in a storefront that was previously home to Winn-Dixie.
The video post went viral, with over 225,000 views as of Thursday morning.
According to a news release, Detwiler’s plans to open the new store in the fall of 2026.
Detwiler’s shares plans for new Bradenton store
“We’re thrilled to expand again in the Bradenton area,” Sam Detwiler said in the news release. “Our stores are busier than ever, and this new location will help us make room for more customers and serve everyone better. We can’t wait to bring the full Detwiler’s experience to this part of town. Our commitment to offering the best products at the best prices and creating a fun, friendly shopping experience will never change.”
It’s the seventh Detwiler’s for the area, and it will be the third for Manatee County. The first Detwiler’s in Manatee County opened in 2018 at 1800 U.S. 301 in Palmetto. In 2023, the company added a store at 3500 53rd Ave. W. in Bradenton.
“I feel like a farmer,” Henry Detwiler said in the social media video. “I’m planting seeds, and I just can’t wait to see the seed we are planting here.”
The Braden River store will feature Detwiler’s farm-fresh produce, meats and seafood, an old-fashioned deli, scratch-made bakery, grocery and wellness departments, according to a news release.
The Braden River Plaza will also have some unique offerings to be announced at a later date, the news release said.
“Our locations that surround (the new location) are packed and we’re trying to make more room for more customers,” Sam Detwiler said in the video.
