Pedestrian hit and killed crossing U.S. 301 in Bradenton, FHP says

A 49-year-old man died early Monday after a driver hit him as he tried to walk across U.S. 301 in Bradenton, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 2:10 a.m. near 15th Street East, the agency said.

Troopers said a 36-year-old Bradenton woman was driving an SUV southeast on U.S. 301 when she struck the pedestrian as he crossed the highway.

The man died at the scene, according to FHP.

The driver and her two passengers, a 17-year-old girl from Bradenton and a 34-year-old man from Sarasota, were not hurt, according to a news release.

The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
