Heavy smoke poured from a Bradenton home’s garage early Monday as West Manatee firefighters rushed to put out a blaze that left the residents unharmed, according to the department.

Crews were called around 8 a.m. to a home in the 4500 block of 100th Street West, near Cortez Road and 46th Avenue West in unincorporated Manatee County, according to Rodney Kwiatkowski, the fire marshal for West Manatee Fire Rescue District. When they arrived, they reported seeing thick smoke rising from the garage of a single-family home.

Firefighters searched inside to make sure everyone was out while also working to contain the flames, according to the department. All of the residents were later accounted for, and no injuries were reported.

The fire was mostly limited to the garage and did not spread into the main living areas, officials said. Power to the home was turned off as a precaution.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the department, Kwiatkowski said.
