Juneteenth is Thursday, June 19.

A celebration of the end of slavery in the U.S., Juneteenth will be recognized with several local events this weekend.

The federal holiday will not change local trash pickup schedules in Bradenton, Palmetto or Manatee County.

Here’s info on what’s opened and closed for the holiday.

Juneteenth closures

  • As a national holiday, federal offices will be closed and mail will not be delivered on Thursday.
  • Manatee County Government does not recognize Juneteenth as a county holiday, so county offices will be open. The Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Manatee County Property Appraiser’s offices will be closed. County libraries and parks will be open, and MCAT routes will follow normal schedules.
  • State offices will be open. Florida recognizes Juneteenth as a “special observance,” but does not recognize Juneteenth as a state holiday.
  • City of Bradenton offices will be open, while City of Palmetto offices will be closed.
