Pedestrian killed in early morning car crash, Bradenton police say

A driver hit and killed a man early Friday morning in Bradenton, police said.

Officers responded shortly after 6 a.m. to 600 13th Ave. E. after a 68-year-old pedestrian was hit and killed by a driver, according to a social media post by the Bradenton Police Department.

Law enforcement officials announced Friday afternoon that the pedestrian walked into the path of the oncoming vehicle.

Police said the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No charges have been filed at this time, the agency said.

13th Avenue East was closed at Sixth Street East during the investigation but has since reopened, police said.

No other information was immediately available Friday afternoon.
