21-year-old Bradenton man killed in car crash with tree, FHP says
A 21-year-old Bradenton man died and others were injured when a speeding car crashed into a tree on Saturday in Sarasota County, Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.
The crash happened around 2:45 a.m. along Northgate Boulevard in an industrial area of Sarasota, the agency said.
Troopers say that three 21-year-old Bradenton men were in a BMW 328i driving west on Northgate Boulevard at a high rate of speed.
That’s when the driver lost control of the car and it spun to the other side of the boulevard, drove over a curb and hit a tree, the agency said. After hitting the tree, the car spun 180 degrees before coming to a stop facing east in the middle of the boulevard, FHP said.
Troopers say that the passenger in the rear seat died at the scene. Investigators noted that he was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver and front passenger had minor injuries, FHP said. Both were wearing seat belts, the agency said.
The crash remained under investigation over the weekend.
