Car hits Bradenton man in fatal Manatee County crash, Florida Highway Patrol says

A 74-year-old Bradenton man was hit and killed by a car when he tried to cross Lockwood Ridge Road Friday night, Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened around 8 p.m., south of 55th Avenue Drive East in the Braden River area of Manatee County, FHP said.

Troopers say the Bradenton man was attempting to cross Lockwood Ridge Road from west to east when he walked into the path of a car traveling southbound.

The front of the car hit the Bradenton man, FHP said. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene, troopers said. The agency has not released the man’s identity.

FHP said the car’s driver, a 90-year-old Bradenton man, and a passenger, a 91-year-old Bradenton woman, were uninjured.

The crash remained under investigation.
