Bradenton woman dies in crash at Manatee County intersection, Florida Highway Patrol says
A driver died in a crash after running a red light at a Manatee County intersection Sunday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened at 9:48 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of 30th Avenue East and US. 41/South Tamiami Trail, the agency said.
Troopers say a 48-year-old Bradenton woman was driving a sedan westbound on 30th Avenue East, approaching a red traffic light at U.S. 41.
A 27-year-old man from Holiday, Florida, was driving a pickup truck northbound on U.S. 41, approaching a green light at the same intersection.
Officials said the woman failed to stop for the red light, and her car hit the passenger side of the man’s pickup truck in the intersection.
The Bradenton woman died at the scene of the crash, FHP said. The Holiday man was taken to HCA Florida Blake Hospital with serious injuries, according to a news release.
FHP did not name the drivers in the news release.
The crash remained under investigation Monday, the agency said.
