A 65-year-old Bradenton man died in a crash Wednesday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The man died after his van crashed into a box truck traveling in the other direction on Tallevast Road in Manatee County, according to a news release.

Troopers say the man was driving a van west on Tallevast Road near Ponce De Leon Avenue on Wednesday at around 5:30 p.m. when he veered left, entering the eastbound lane, which was occupied by a box truck driven by a 59-year-old Sarasota man. The left front of the van collided with the left side of the box truck, FHP said.

The man sustained critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where troopers say he died.

The crash remains under investigation.

Further information about the crash was not immediately available Thursday afternoon.
