Bradenton bicyclist seriously hurt in crash with truck in Manatee County, FHP says

A pickup truck driver hit a bicyclist Tuesday night on U.S. 41 in Manatee County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Just before 11:30 p.m., the pickup truck driver was heading south on U.S. 41, south of 57th Avenue West, when the bike rider crossed in front of him, troopers said.

The bicyclist, a 62-year-old Bradenton woman, was not wearing a helmet and was seriously injured, FHP said. She was taken to HCA Florida Blake Hospital, troopers said.

The pickup truck driver, a 37-year-old Sarasota man, was not hurt in the crash.

The crash is still under investigation, troopers said.

No further details were available as of Wednesday morning.
