Two people were hurt Monday afternoon when a car crashed into a hotel’s tiki bar in Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at about 3:30 p.m. when the driver, a 63-year-old man, lost control of the car and hit two patrons at the tiki bar at the Lantern Inn and Suites, 7251 U.S. 41., troopers said.

The patrons — a 69-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman — suffered critical and serious injuries, FHP said. Both were taken to a local hospital.

After hitting the patrons, the driver crashed into a concrete wall and a parked SUV, troopers said. Debris from the concrete wall fell on the SUV and three other cars.

The crash investigation is ongoing. No further details were available as of Tuesday afternoon.
