42-year-old man dies in fatal Myakka City rollover crash on State Road 70, troopers say

A 42-year-old man died after the car he was in rolled over Friday afternoon in Myakka City, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 42-year-old man died after the car he was in rolled over Friday afternoon in Myakka City, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say a 68-year-old woman was driving along State Road 70 approaching Robinson Road in East Manatee County around 1:24 p.m. when her vehicle drifted into the oncoming travel lanes.

The driver over-corrected and drove off the roadway, striking three mailboxes and a tree, which caused the sedan to overturn “several times,” according to a crash report.

The driver and a 61-year-old female passenger were taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The 42-year-old male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers say.

The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash.
