Road closures planned in downtown Bradenton Area River Regatta. Here’s what to know
There will be road closures, including the Green Bridge that links Palmetto to downtown Bradenton, this weekend due to the annual Bradenton Area River Regatta.
The Bradenton Police Department said road closures will begin at 4 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17. The roads will reopen after the Regatta races finish and clean up is completed. The bridge is not expected to open until late Saturday evening.
The roads that are closed starting at that time are as follows:
Green Bridge will be closed to traffic but will remain open to pedestrians. Bikes and scooters are not allowed on the bridge. A free trolley will be accessible on either side of the bridge for travel between Palmetto and Bradenton from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Ninth Street West will be closed between Manatee Avenue and the Green Bridge.
12th Street West (Old Main Street) will be closed between Manatee Avenue and 1st Avenue West/Barcarrota Blvd.
3rd Avenue West will be open only for eastbound traffic between 9th Street West and 1st Street/U.S.-41.
Those seeking travel between Bradenton and Palmetto can use the DeSoto Bridge on U.S. 41 while the Green Bridge is closed.
The Bradenton Market on Old Main Street is scheduled Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Free parking for Saturday’s festivities is available in City of Bradenton parking lots and parking garages.
Only VIP passholders can access parking at Rossi Park and the Riverwalk parking lot.
Other events going on Saturday include the LECOM 5K on that starts at 8:30 a.m. and has a race route utilizing the Green Bridge, and the Pittsburgh Pirates Spring Training Kickoff Block Party in downtown Bradenton on Old Main Street from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
