The holiday season is officially here, which means Thanksgiving is Thursday.

We’ve got you covered. Here’s a list of what’s open and closed when and other important info for the holiday.
Federal, state and county closures, garbage collection changes
Thursday is a federal, state and county government holiday.
That means:
- The post office is closed and mail will not be delivered.
- Government offices (federal, state, county and city) will be closed. Manatee County Government offices will also be closed Friday. Some services, such as Manatee County Tax Collector, will remain available online.
- Public schools are closed and public school students remain on Thanksgiving break; they return Nov. 28.
The New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ are closed.
Most banks are closed.
State and federal courts are closed.
Manatee County Public Libraries will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday and reopen at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Garbage collection for Manatee County, City of Bradenton and City of Palmetto customers will be rolled back one day. (Thursday collections will move to Friday and Friday collections will move to Saturday.) The Lena Road Landfill will be closed on Thursday.
G.T. Bray Recreation Center will close at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and reopen at 7 a.m. Saturday.
MCAT will not offer fixed route or Handy Bus service on Thanksgiving.

- Publix grocery stores and pharmacies will be closed on Thanksgiving. The retailer is also closed for Christmas and Easter. Find individual store hours at publix.com/locations.
- ALDI stores are closed on Thanksgiving Day.
- Trader Joe’s stores are closed on Thanksgiving Day.
Winn-Dixie stores are closed on Thanksgiving Day.
Detwiler’s Farm Market locations are closed Thanksgiving Day.
Acapulco Tropical y Mas, 3410 U.S. 301, Ellenton, is open 6 a.m.-7 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.
- The Fresh Market, 6701 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton and 5251 University Parkway, University Park is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.
- Whole Foods, 5298 University Parkway, Sarasota is open 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.
Big Lots stores will be open Thanksgiving Day from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will offer one-day deals.
When do big box stores open for Black Friday shopping?
Walmart is closed Thanksgiving Day. Stores open at 5 a.m. on Friday.
Target will be closed Thanksgiving Day. Stores open at 6 a.m. on Friday.
Lowe’s and Home Depot are closed on Thanksgiving Day. Both stores open at 6 a.m. on Friday.
Sam’s Club and Costco are closed on Thanksgiving Day. Both stores open at 10 a.m. on Friday.
What are mall hours Thanksgiving weekend?
Ellenton Premium Outlets: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Open 6 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday. Extended shopping hours will continue throughout the holiday season. More info: premiumoutlets.com/outlet/ellenton

Are parks and beaches open?
- Manatee County parks, beaches and preserves will be open on Thanksgiving.
De Soto National Memorial will be closed on Thursday.
- Holiday light displays and other festive events will be happening over the long weekend around Bradenton and Sarasota.
Where to get Christmas trees, poinsettias
Christmas tree lot opens: The longest-running Christmas tree lot in Bradenton opens Nov. 24.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County’s 69th annual Christmas Tree Lot will offer 3- 12-foot tall Fraser fir trees and wreaths.
“As we open our 69th annual Christmas tree lot, we are filled with gratitude for the unwavering support that has allowed us to positively impact the lives of the children and teens we serve,” said Boys & Girls Club CEO Dawn Stanhope in a news release. “This cherished tradition exemplifies the power of community coming together.”

Poinsettia market: Stock up on the holiday season’s most iconic flower at Orban’s Nursery’s 33rd annual Poinsettia Open House. The open house includes a holiday market of local vendors including food, honey and produce. Succulents and annuals will also be for sale.
