Manatee County’s football players are already putting together memorable performances as the 2023-24 high school season heats up.
This week, we resume a weekly feature in which we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Manatee County high school sports.
Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29.

The winner will be announced on the Bradenton Herald’s social media channels. Saint Stephen’s Evan Brown was last week’s winner.
Here are the candidates from last week’s games:
▪ Andrew Heidel, Manatee: The junior completed 23 of 40 passes for 412 yards. He threw four touchdowns against one interception as Manatee stayed undefeated with a 31-24 victory over Port Charlotte.
▪ Torey Gilley, Manatee: A junior, Gilley caught five passes for 158 yards and a touchdown against Port Charlotte.
▪ Bon Bean Jr., Manatee: The senior tallied 161 yards on six receptions and two touchdowns against Port Charlotte.
▪Ely Hamrick, IMG Academy White: The sophomore completed 9 of 12 passes for 223 yards and five touchdowns in IMG Academy White’s 44-0 win over Winter Haven Akelynn’s Angel Christian Academy.
▪ TJ Hill, IMG Academy White: The senior had a team-leading five tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble and scored a receiving touchdown against Winter Haven Akelynn’s Angel Christian Academy.
